About our testing:
Currently, we provide a Chagas Disease bundle, which includes screening and confirmatory serology (as requested by guidelines of the Infectious Disease Society of America), as well as PCR.
Our PCR offers the advantage that it detects all developmental stages of the parasite (see attached), not only those present in humans but also from the infecting bug, meaning that if people find the bugs at their home and do not know if they were exposed we can test the bug for the parasite as well.
Furthermore, we conduct offline parasite T. cruzi strain typing, and we are in the process of validating our lytic antibody assay for treatment follow-up of infected patients.
The test was approved on April 12, 2023 and was launched at Mount Sinai on April 26, 2023.
